Madolyn Louise Welles, 96, died at 5:40 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Bethesda Meadows in Ellisville, Mo.
She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Eldorado, the daughter of Harvey D. and Helen (Hughes) Rettinger. She married Samuel “Eugene” Welles on Nov. 10, 1940, in Eldorado. He preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by a son, Samuel Eric Welles and wife Sherrie of Rochelle; daughter, Eugenia “Jeannie” Lee Hugill and husband Edmund of Chesterfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Bradley Hugill of Chesterfield, Mo., Todd Hugill of Chesterfield, Mo., Sarah Britt and husband Joshua of Winnebago, Joshua Welles of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. and Luci Wulfekuhle and husband Derik of Fairfield, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, Lauren Britt, Norah Bitt, Raegen Britt, Ella Wulfekuhle, Hayden Wulfekuhle and McKinley Wulfekuhle; brother, D.O. Rettinger of Las Vegas; sister, Hilda Bozarth of Eldorado; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister, Helen Edith Rettinger.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in McLeansboro with Doctor Rev. Larry McCoy officiating.
In honor of Madolyn’s wishes no visitation will be held.
