---- — Jessie Lorene Silvey Schaeffer, 91, of Mt. Vernon, died 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born March 23, 1922, in Iuka, the daughter of Edward and Ora Catherine (Corry) Silvey. She married F.E. Frazier in September 1939, in St. Louis and he preceded her in death on April 2, 1995. She married Albert Schaeffer and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2012.
Jessie worked for 19 years at the Hollywood Candy Factory in Centralia. She was a member of Demeree Methodist Church and was a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved flowers, working in the yard and enjoyed going to see the animals at the Brickyard Shelter. She had a special donkey she called “Jack” and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice Frazier Staples and husband Virgil of Mt. Vernon and Pat Akers of Mt. Vernon; special daughter, Sherrie Brose of Lewistown, Mont.; stepchildren, Chuck Schaeffer of Centralia and Sue Smith formerly of Centralia; grandchildren, Brian Staples and wife Tina of Mt. Vernon, Sheila Forristall and husband Robert of Bluford, Wanda Philpot of Lerna, Debbie Johnson of West Point, Miss., Garry Mays, Jr. of West Point, Miss., Sandra Donabach of Effingham, Cheryl O’Brien of West Point, Miss., Trisha Wingfield of Mt. Vernon and Carol Lyman and husband Keith of California; great-grandchildren, Randy, Jenny, Tonya, Jetaime, Andy, Misty, J.R., Kevin, Mindy, Josh, Courtney, Caleb, Dustin, Brittany, Brittany Wingfield, April and Tiffany; 13 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Alberta Painter of Salem.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant son, Rex Eugene Frazier; great-grandson, Garry Johnson; and siblings, Nina, Norma, Tob, Boone, Wes, Nan, Evelyn, Lucille and Bertha.
Memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Iuka Cemetery in Iuka with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will be at Iuka Cemetery in Iuka. In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no visitation.
