---- — Arthur Eugene “Art” Reimer, 83, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Residential Living Center in Mt. Vernon.

He was born Saturday, Feb. 1, 1930, in Ashley, the son of Virgil and Wilma (Sides) Reimer. He married Bonnadean Hill on Sept. 17, 1994, in Mt. Vernon.

Art was in tire sales and real estate. He loved golf and was a member of Green Hills Country Club in Mt. Vernon, the Mt. Vernon Elks (B.P.O.E.) Lodge 819, and a former member of the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31 AF and AM, the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis and the Jefferson County Shrine Club.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnadean Reimer of Mt. Vernon; children, Tom Williams and wife Karen of Mt. Vernon, Kathleen Shoemaker and husband Ron of Mt. Vernon, Donnie Williams and wife JoAnn of St. Louis and Kenny Clark and wife Melinda of Parma, Mo.; grandchildren, Michelle and Chris Ashby, Amie and Keith King, Melinda Mason and husband Peter, Courtney Williams, Jordan, Lexie and Faith Shoemaker and Nicholas Clark; great-grandchildren, Colleen and Andrew Ashby and Harper Shoemaker; sister, Peggy Swain; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, John Swain; and stepson, Eddie Williams.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Donnie Williams officiating. Interment will be at Ashley Cemetery in Ashley. Members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
