MT. VERNON —
Charles “Chuck” Tuggle, 91, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Goreville, passed away 7:30 a.m. July 12, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Health Care.
Charles was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Carmi, to Lee Vincent and Tamsey (Buttry) Tuggle. He married Brenda Murphy on Oct. 5, 1991. She survives in Dix. Together they shared 21 wonderful years of marriage.
Mr. Tuggle was a retired salesman. He was a devoted Christian and an Army WW II veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Tuggle of Dix; stepdaughter, Leslie and Eric Williams of Texico; stepsons, William J. Staley of Texico and James S. Reeves of Carbondale; sister, Katherine and Ted Mitchell of McLeansboro; 12 stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Tuggle; daughter, Judy Tuggle; and six brothers, Vilo Tuggle, Monroe Tuggle, Joe Tuggle, Nick Tuggle, George Tuggle and Chalen Tuggle.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Herrin City Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Military rites will be performed. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is handling arrangements.
