Mary E. Ksycki, 94, of Du Bois, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville.

Mary graduated from St. Charles Grade School in Du Bois, Ashley High School and attended St. Louis University and Webster College in St. Louis, and St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in East St. Louis.  She was a registered nurse and had a master's degree in nursing.

She worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital O.B. Department in Centralia and later was coordinator of a nursing program in East St. Louis.  She was instrumental in establishing the practical nursing program at Mt. Vernon Junior College which became Rend Lake College.

She was a member of St. Charles Church in Du Bois, the Catholic Daughters, St. Theresa's Sodality and the Living Rosary.

Mary was born Aug. 8, 1918, at Du Bois, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Polczynski) Ksycki.

She is survived by one sister, Sister Martin (Irene) Ksycki, OLVM, of Huntington, Ind.; and one sister-in-law, Josephine Ksycki of Du Bois; nieces and nephews, LaVerne and Christopher Kilgore, Lawrence and Conchitta Grabowski, Ronald Grabowski, Patricia Corzine, Charles and Brenda Ksycki, Daniel and Sandra Ksycki, Karen Woodard, Claire Ann Ksycki, Donna and Jack Chappell, Phyllis and Gregory Smith, Barbara Bochantin, John and Marietta Bochantin, Gregory Bochantin, Anita Bochantin, Kathy and Norbert Ryterski; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, the Rev. Stanley Kyscki, Walter Kyscki, John Kyscki and Charles Kyscki (in infancy); sisters, Sister Stanislaus (Clara) Kyscki, SSND, Martha Grabowski, Sister Joecile (Theresa) Ksycki, SSND, Victoria Bochantin and Valeria Ksycki (in infancy); and nephew, James Bochantin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Father Bernard C. Goedde Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the Searby Funeral Home at Tamaroa.  The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery in Du Bois.

Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Cemetery or the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
