Delorise Jean Jones, 52, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:21 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in Woodlawn, as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born Aug. 6, 1961, in Marks, Miss., the daughter of Willie Jones and Rutha Mae (Johnson).
She is survived by father, Willie Jones of Springfield; mother, Rutha Mae Johnson of Milwaukee; four daughters, Cheri Lutrice Jones of Mt. Vernon, Starr Lynette Jones of Mt. Vernon, Sabrina Jones of Milwaukee and Latoya Jones of Milwaukee; one son, Torome McCormick of Milwaukee; two sisters, Jennifer Jones of Milwaukee and Joyce Johnson of Milwaukee; three brothers, Willie Jones Jr. of Milwaukee, Curtis Johnson of Milwaukee and Robert Johnson and wife Ruby of Milwaukee; and a host of grandchildren.
Delorise was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny B. Jones and a nephew, Melvin Alan Doggan.
Delorise was a CNA for local hospitals and nursing homes. She worked at Heartside Rehabilitation Center in Milwaukee. She also was a lifetime foster mother. Delorise was an excellent mentor. She always went out of her way to be open and available to help people and take care of them.
Delorise was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence James officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5 to the time of service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
