Roberta Lee Jones, 57, of Mt. Vernon, died at 3:21 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, in Woodlawn, as the result of an automobile accident in rural Woodlawn.
She was born Dec. 12, 1955, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of John Long and Senie (Sanders) Long. She married Joe Jones and he survives in Grenada, Miss.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by four daughters, Rashieda Jones of Mt. Vernon, Ania Jones of Mt. Vernon, Siedah Jones of Bloomington and AsShaunte Martin of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Fernandus Jones, Barrett Jones and Ernesto Jones and wife Carrie, all of Mt. Vernon; four sisters, Anita and husband Ronald Boling of Mt. Vernon, Addie Long of Mt. Vernon, Edna Wyatt of Evansville, Ind. and Opal Wyatt of Evansville, Ind.; one brother, Darren Wyatt of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren, Selena Jones, Jayden Hodges, Lontrell Jones, LaNia Burke, LaVon Burke, LaMareon Burke, Eliahas Jones and Tazarionna Wright; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, John Long and Senie (Sanders) Long; two daughters, Manesha Long and Taisha Jones; son, Joseph Jones; and two brothers, Luther James Wyatt and Warren Long.
Roberta was a member of the Greater Faith Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Lawrence James officiating and Elder Willis C. Jordan will conduct the eulogy. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. until service time.
