Evelyn Droll

MT. VERNON — Evelyn Droll, 90, of Ina, passed away at 4:29 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

She was born in Jefferson County, on Sept. 27, 1922, the daughter of Clyde & Florence (Knowles) Adams. She married Clyde Droll on Oct. 14, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark., and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2006.

Mrs. Droll was an accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed hand quilting, embroidery and crocheting. She enjoyed gardening, reading, water aerobics and truly loved playing games with her grandkids.

Mrs. Droll was a member of the Ina Free Will Baptist Church, and enjoyed her Sunday School class. For over 20 years she and her family cared for the children in the nursery at the church.

Mrs. Droll is survived by her five children, Gloria Owens and husband Lloyd of Ina, Joan Williams and husband David of Herrin, Randy Droll, Mary Droll, and Andy Droll and wife Dana, all of Ina; 11 grandchildren,  Maryann Waters and husband Danny of Mt. Vernon, Mark Owens and wife Shannon of Mt. Vernon, Ashley Owens of Frisco, Colo., David Plemons and wife Kristen of Champaign; Sarah Dyrud and husband Lars of Thief River Falls, Minn., Hannah Greever and husband Tom of Mt. Vernon, Caleb Plemons and wife Jessica of Mt. Vernon, Rachel Denty and husband Jason of Ashley, and Joseph Droll and Devon Droll, and Morgan Droll, all of Ina; 17 great-grandchildren, Madison and Marissa Waters, Sophia and Avery Owens, Noah and Ellie Plemons, Josiah, Samuel, Norah, Caliah and Tarje Dyrud, Millie, Silas, Isaac and Naomi Greever, Isla Plemons, and Aidan Dent.

Mrs. Droll was preceded in death by her parents, husband, by a brother, Albert Adams, and by a sister, Irene Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Brad Ryan and Bro. David Shores officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Woodlawn. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials in Mrs. Droll's name may be made to the Building Fund at the Ina Free Will Baptist Church.
