---- — Ellamae Harrelson Hiltibidal, 92, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Sunday afternoon Dec. 1, 2013, at White Oak Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born in Hamilton County on May 13, 1921, the daughter of Edgar and Lou (Bennett) Harrelson. She married the Rev. John Hiltibidal on Oct. 26, 1941, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1999.
She was a licensed Free Will Baptist Minister. She served 10 years as Illinois State President & Field worker for Illinois Free Will Baptist Woman’s Auxiliary (Women Active for Christ).
She graduated from McLeansboro High School, where she played violin in the symphony. She was a member of Pleasant View Free Will Baptist Church since 1941, and attended Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church in later years.
She has always been gifted with lots of talents; singing, sewing, crafting, painting, quilting, den mother for Boy Scouts, church work and a good friend to lots of people.
She is survived by four children, Anita Bain and husband Bill of Benton, Ky., Mary Lou Seawell and husband Holt of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Ruby Lynn Smith and husband Adrian Leon of Bluford and John Stephen Hiltibidal and wife Julie of Stockton, Calif.; grandchildren: Danya Maas and husband Larry, Jon Bain and wife Lynn, Carol Bain and friend Chris Gates, Greg Bain and wife Mary, Beth Lantz, Christy Seawell, Greta Mae Laguna and husband Chris, Heather Chalos and husband Stevie, Master Sergeant Adrian Lee Smith U. S. Air Force, Nancy Withrow and husband Ed, Jordan Hallet and husband Josh, Amy Hiltibidal and Audrey Hiltibidal; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and foster sisters, Daisy and Barbara.
Mrs. Hiltibidal was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Roscoe Harrelson, Ralph Harrelson, Roy Harrelson, Leda Daily, Melba Hiltibidal and foster sister, Alice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with Bro. David Shores and Bro. David Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Visitation for Mrs. Hiltibidal was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Mt. Vernon First Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the cemetery.
