David Neal Rainey, Sr., 69, of Mt. Vernon, died 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Gerald D. and Lottie (Clark) Rainey. He married Mary Sue Henry on April 23, 1966, in Mt. Vernon. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2007.
David owned and operated a vending machine route through the State of Illinois program of hiring people with disabilities since he was legally blind.
He is survived by two sons, Doug Rainey of West Frankfort and Dan Rainey and wife Crystal of West Frankfort; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, David Neal Rainey, Jr.; and one brother, Albert Richard Rainey.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Jason Ishmael officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
