Frank J. Horton, 53, of Waltonville, passed away 6:01 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his home in Waltonville as the result of a house fire.
Frank was born on Sept. 2, 1959, in Wood River, a son of Jack Carter and Suzanna (Hester) Horton.
Mr. Horton was lifelong boilermaker until a motorcycle accident in June 2006. Frank was a proud member of The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 363 in East Saint Louis. Frank was of the Christian faith. He was a loving father and grandfather. He also loved to maintain close contact with family and friends.
Frank is survived by three sons, Blake Horton and fiancée Amanda Anderson of Waltonville, Frank Justin Horton and fiancée Kristen Clements of Chandler, Ariz. and Eli Horton of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Hannah Wachtel of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Bill Horton and wife Vicky of Saint James, Mo. and Ricky Horton and wife Tracy of Mt. Vernon; sister, Jackie R. Colorado of Aripeka, Fla.; three grandchildren, Miles Horton, Mya Horton and Zayvier Edwards; mothers of his children, Loretta (Ashby) and Tamara (Malin); and also several nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Monday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Pastor Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville.
