WAYNE CITY — Dale Shelton, 73, of Carbondale, died at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Wayne City, the son of Fred and Fern (Barringer) Shelton.
He is survived by a son, Danial Shelton of Murphysboro; two daughters, Elizabeth Shelton of St. Louis and Sarah Shelton of Carbondale; three sisters, Bonnie Austin of Owensville, Ind., Dorothy Talbert of Sims and Cathy Hunter of Wayne City; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.
Mr. Shelton was a retired educator.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Archie L. Sanders Chapel at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City with the Rev. George Musgrave officiating. Interment will be in Thomason Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis.
