Virginia Barth

---- — Virginia Ann Barth, 79, of Mt. Vernon, departed this life 2:28 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Saturday, Feb. 3, 1934, in Johnston City, the daughter of Lester and Cora (Samples) Williams. She first married Edward Webster on June 2, 1956, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1975. She later married Roy Barth on May 2, 1986, in Mt. Vernon.

Virginia was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Johnston City Township High School and attended Rend Lake College. She spent her entire working career in the secretarial and accounting field, first in manufacturing then in construction and the last 33.5 years in oil and gas. Virginia was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by husband, Roy Barth of Mt. Vernon; stepson, Michael Barth of Carterville; two stepdaughters, Sherrie Barth of Fort Meyers, Fla. and Bobbie Barth of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Gwen O’Dell and husband Larry of Effingham; four nephews, Jim McCuan and wife Lisa, John McCuan, Barry O’Dell and wife Nikki and Brad O’Dell and wife Janeen; stepgranddaughter, Jessica Backes; and seven great-nephews and five great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ed Webster; one son, Kim Webster; one sister, Janice McCuan and her husband Bill; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Mattie Samples; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Nellie Williams; one infant sister; and one infant brother.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Randy Sells officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation, the American Parkinson Disease Association or the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
