---- — James A. “Jim” Westman, age 79, of Carlyle, entered into rest on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle.
Mr. Westman was born on March 26, 1934, in Centralia, a son of James A. “Al” and Carrie Westman. He married his wife Peggy on July 27, 1979, in Mt. Vernon and she survives in Carlyle.
He is also survived by six daughters, Laura Fauke and husband John of Carlyle, Dee Cordell of Everett, Wash., Wendy Wilcoxon and husband Doug of Danville, Ind., Gayle Wohlert and husband Bill of McHenry, Ellie Chin and husband Ken of Atlanta and Jeanie Hanks and husband Andrew of Carroll Valley, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Vicki Tallchief and husband Tim of Jones, Okla. and Kathy Griffin of Carlyle; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Westman and Exie Harvey, both of Mt. Vernon; a brother-in-law, Eddie Jordan and wife Pat of Paducah, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. “Al” and Carrie Westman; infant son, Bruce A. Westman; a stepson-in-law, Larry Griffin; two brothers, Charles Westman and Harold Harvey; and a sister, Eva Morris.
Mr. Westman was the claims training coordinator for Country Mutual Insurance Company for 41 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served as an aerial photographer in the Korean War. Jim was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle with the Rev. Josh Wolford officiating. Interment followed at Carlyle Cemetery. Visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 14, at Zieren Day Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15.
Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Westman are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children and will be received at Zieren Day Funeral Home.
