Lavern Fay Johnson, Jr., of McLeansboro, was killed in a car/tractor accident in Franklin County on Wednesday, July 10, 2013.
He was born June 20, 1963, to Lavern and Dorothy Johnson of Keenes, who survive.
Lavern was a member of the Wayne City Church of God. He was a cook for PJ’s Cafe in McLeansboro, a volunteer fireman, EMT and first responder. He also served in the United States Army.
Lavern is survived by his parents; a son, Jamie Johnson of Cisne; four stepchildren, Robert, Cassandra, Toni and Brandon, all of Cisne; two sisters, Katie (Raymond) Castleberry of Flora and Bell (Dale) Klanke of Xenia; four brothers, Joe Johnson of Keenes, Wayne (Tina), Reverend Wesley (Robin) Johnson of Fairfield and Tom (Mary) Johnson of Farina. Lavern has seven stepgrandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews and a good friend, April Clifton.
Lavern was preceded in death by his grandparents and a stepson, David.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Wayne City Church of God. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Church with the Rev. Gary Cline officiating. Interment will be at Ten Post Oak Cemetery.
