Grace Blindauer

---- — Grace L. Hampton Blindauer, 77, of Mt. Vernon, died 10:25 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Saturday, Feb. 8, 1936, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Ray Frank and Mary Belle (Kirk) Capps. She married Gerald Hampton on March 20, 1954, and he preceded her in death on May 7, 1979. She married Robert W. “Bob” Blindauer on Oct. 18, 1986, at Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1991.

Grace was a homemaker and a member of Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, David Hampton and wife Paula of Mt. Vernon and Mark Hampton and wife Kim of Greenbrier, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Poole of Greenbrier, Tenn., Chad Hampton of Mt. Vernon, Jody Mack and husband Jarad of Mt. Vernon, Adam Hampton and wife Marcie of Springfield, Tenn., Doug Hampton of Mt. Vernon and Laura Hampton of Greenbrier, Tenn.; two brothers, Jack Capps and wife Charlotte of Atkinson and Albert Capps and wife Phyllis of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Nina Wheeler and Mary Lemay of Mt. Vernon; four sisters-in-law, Mary Capps of Mt. Vernon, Katherine Irvin and husband Howard of Dahlgren, Sue Widicus and husband the Rev. Paul of Mt. Vernon and Janice Hampton of Belleville; brother-in-law, John Hampton and wife Barbara of Bluford; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Angie Capps.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two infant siblings, Ruth and Raymond; three brothers, Roy, Burel and Charles Capps; and one sister, Virginia Boykin.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Roland Sledge officiating. Interment will be at West Salem Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
