James Mark Ellis, age 62, of Salem, passed away at 5 p.m. June 10, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 12, 1952, to A. Carl Ellis and Berneita Beaird Ellis in Peoria. He married Vickey Suddeth in 1971.
He was a retired tire inspector at Continental Tire, working there for 30 years. He loved history and took part in many reenactments. His passion was playing the bagpipes and he did many memorials and weddings and would play for anyone who would listen. He was a Mason and a member of the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved his pets.
He is survived by his parents, Carl and Berneita Ellis of Mt. Vernon; his wife, Vickey Ellis of Salem; two daughters, Heather Daniels and husband Craig of Salem and Marissa Mann and husband Jason of Irvington; three grandchildren, Cameron, Kaitlyn and Kaleb; two sisters, Marilyn Anderson and husband Duane of Iowa and Susan Smith of Mt. Vernon; nephew, Koree Smith of Houston; neice, Julianna Smith of Bloomington; and Sean M. Tolley of Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Clark Street Church of God in Salem with Larry Vaughn presiding.
Visitation will take place from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the church.
