Larry Lee Linville, 75, of Mt. Vernon, died 6 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Wednesday, May 17, 1939, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Floyd Linville and Mary Geraldine “Jerri” (Barefield) Greenwalt. He married Phyllis R. Clark on March 12, 1963, in Bernton; she survives in Mt. Vernon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tamera A. Winkleman and husband Todd of Mt. Vernon; three sons, Kevin R. Linville of Mt. Vernon, Robbie L. Linville and wife Sally of Waltonville and Doyle W. Linville and special friend Angie Shelton of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Jessica Stroud and husband Cory, Josh Linville and wife Hannah, Jerrica Linville and special friend Bryson, Daniel Winkleman and wife Leah, Brandi McCain and husband Dustin, Sydney Winkleman, Dawsen Winkleman and Caleb Linville; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Greenwalt and wife Kathy of Mt. Vernon; two nephews, Adam and Noah Greenwalt; and a special aunt, Doris Pace of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Larry served in the U.S. Navy and was a truck driver for Southern Illinois Concrete Company.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. The chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct a flag presentation service at the cemetery.
In honor of Larry’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
