Audrey Freeze, 88, of McLeansboro, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center.
He was born on April 20, 1926, in Cedar Grove, Mo., a son of Johnnie and Pheby E. (Derryberry) Freeze. He married Dorothy (Durner) Freeze, who survives in McLeansboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Pamela Kay Reynolds of McLeansboro; and two grandchildren, Garth K. Reynolds of Springfield and Glenna Kay Hagan and husband Ian of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Freeze worked as a test pasteurizer retiring after 37 years with Fieldtest Dairies in St. Louis.
He was a staff sergeant during World War II and served in Company F, 2nd Battalion, 188th Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of McLeansboro United Methodist Church, Masonic Polk Lodge 137, Scottish Rite 32nd degree, a member of American Legion Post 106 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Jim Peak officiating. Burial will be at Ten Mile Cemetery near McLeansboro with graveside military rites conducted by American Legion Post 106 and an honor guard from Marion.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
A Masonic service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home by Polk Lodge 137.
