Robert W. Noel, 81, of Marion, passed away at noon Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1932, in Nortonville, Ky., a son of Robert Noel and Ethel (McRoy) Noel. On March 22, 1955, in Chicago, he married Eleanor Kanoa Noel and she preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Robert Alan Noel of Oxnard, Calif.; four daughters, Donna Johnson and husband Timothy of McLeansboro, Leona Whting-Novack and husband Mark of South Elgin, Darlene Noel-Hammann and husband Gary of Peyton, Colo.; and Lynette Fleck and husband David of McLeansboro; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. He was a maintenance engineer and a member of the New Life Assembly of God. He played golf, chess and traveled. He was a past resident of Heritage Woods Assisted Living of McLeansboro and a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving in the Korean War.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Andy May officiating. Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
