Nada Juliet Upchurch, 90, of Dahlgren, died at 8:32 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on June 28, 1924, in Dahlgren, a daughter of Carl McNair and Flora (Clark) McNair. She married Charles Evan Upchurch on June 28, 1942, in Dahlgren, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Merrill Upchurch and wife Linda of Dahlgren; three daughters, Judith Cermak of Mt. Vernon, Linda Snider and husband Jerry of Cincinnati and Karen Tucker and husband Gary of Benton; one sister, Florine Savage and husband Dean of Belle Rive; 11 grandchildren, Eric and Liz Cermak, Jerel Cermak, Jessica Cermak and friend David Robinson, Mike and Gena Snider, Jeff and Joy Snider, Skyler and Jamie Tucker, Dakota Tucker, Wesley Tucker, Dale Vaughn, Cassandra Upchurch and Rachel and Rob Payne; 14-great-grandchildren, Devon Cermak, Alexis Robinson, David Robinson III, Aliyah Robinson, Christopher and Hannah Snider, Shauna and Jesse Tucker, Caleb and Caden Vaughn, Meghan and Nathaniel Ziehm, Evan Payne and Christian Snider; two great-great grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Snider; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, Alyssa Snider; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin and Ruth McNair and Raymond and Crystal McNair; and one son-in-law, Ray Cermak.
She was a homemaker and member of the Dahlgren Community Chapel. She loved gardening, quilting and visiting people who were shut ins and was active in the Dahlgren Senior Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Tony Phelps officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Dahlgren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dahlgren Community Chapel Building Fund.
