Allen Flowers, 55, of Delton, Fla., and a former resident of Mt. Vernon, died 3 p.m. July 19, 2013, in Orange City, Fla., as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Allen was born March 7, 1958, in Chicago, a son of George Alexander and Leatha June (Pugh) Flowers. He married Patricia (Mick) and they divorced. He later married Donna Walls and they were divorced.
Allen was a self-employed computer technician and he also worked in a garage door manufacturing plant. He was a good man whether people liked it or not. He loved to ride motorcycles. He was an avid fisherman. Allen was most of all a good grandfather.
Mr. Flowers is survived by three daughters, Tia Flowers and husband Phillip Maxson of Jacksonville, N.C., Lea Flowers of Mt. Vernon and Zia Flowers of Mt. Vernon; sister, Marilyn Mellott and husband Dale of LaSalle; one brother, Orville Flowers and wife Ella of Belleville; four grandchildren, Lukas, Emily, Lynden and Kyecen; special friend, Carla Vargo of Delton, Fla.; two stepsisters, Phyllis Richardson and husband Phillip and Kay Hudson; nieces and nephews, David Fuller and wife Amanda, Melissa Short, Jeff Fuller, Mark Flowers and Christina Flowers and also several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Sam Austin; two brothers, Gary Pugh and Bobby Pugh; sister, Alice Flowers; stepbrother, Sammie Austin; and a special nephew, Donny Fuller.
A celebration of Allen's life will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. Wednesday until the service time at the funeral home.
