Blanche Shaw, 94, of Dahlgren, died 11:54 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center, McLeansboro.
She was born Oct. 25, 1918, in Granite City, the daughter of John C. Lee and Effie Mae (Cole) Lee. She married Hubert Harrelson Shaw on July 17, 1935, in Benton; he preceded her in death March 7, 1982.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by a daughter, Dorothy K. Crabb of Dahlgren; a son, Hubert Lee Shaw of Crown Point, Ind.; grandchildren, Alysia Dawn Lewis of Highland, Ind., Kathlene Crabb Eaton and husband Roger of Opkyke and Jennifer Crabb Carter and husband Billy of Dale; great-grandchildren, Samantha Toren and husband Jake of Munster, Ind., Misty Lee Baker and husband Steve of Gate City, Va., Levi, Caleb and Kaylee Chapman of Dale and Katelyn Eaton of Opdyke; three great-great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Victoria, Gemma and Delainey Rae Toren to be born at any time; a brother, Virgil Lee of Mt. Vernon; and two sisters, Edna Gordon of Crown Point, Ind., and Francis Ritcheson of McLeansboro.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church. She loved to cook, especially pies, and enjoyed taking long walks with her husband and dogs. She loved doing things with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, with the Rev. Gary Davenport officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery, Macedonia.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
