---- — Raymond W. Lawrence, 63, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of the Cisne and Flora area, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at National Railway Equipment Co. in Mt. Vernon where he was employed.

Raymond was born May 14, 1950, in Eldorado to Freda (Bates) and stepfather Orville “O.D.” Freese.

He was a security guard for National Railway in Mt. Vernon.

Raymond is survived by his fiancee Diana Murray Moles of Mt. Vernon; ex-wife Mary of Mt. Vernon; fiancee’s daughter, Melanie Ashby and husband Eric and her children, Brayden Matthew Ashby and Ethan Robert Ashby; fiancee’s son, Douglas Allen Moles and wife Susan, and his children, Khloee, Keegan, and Kaden, all of Mt. Vernon; stepson, Ferris Orange of Mt. Vernon; and three stepgrandchildren, Cooper, Tabitha and Heather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter Yvette Orange and several aunts and uncles.

Raymond was a Navy veteran serving during Vietnam. He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed fishing and avid about all military, especially the Navy. He was a Christian of the Pentecost faith.

Private services will be at a later date with full military rites at the graveside.
