---- — Marie Hawkins Lasater, 91, of Morris, formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at Joliet Community Hospice Home in Joliet, on Friday, May 17, 2013.
She was born July 23, 1921, the daughter of Luty and Hazel (Hanes) Hawkins. Marie grew up in Mt. Vernon, graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and attended the University of Illinois.
Marie was married to Harry Anson Lasater, Jr. on April 2, 1942. Together they had three children, Glenn (Carol) Lasater of Englewood, Colo., Jo (Phil) Truty of Joliet and Luty (Sue) Lasater of Phoenix. Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive her, as well as five beloved nieces and their families.
Her husband; her parents; her brother, Haynes Hawkins; and her sister, Joyce Puckett preceded her in death.
Marie and her husband owned and operated Roads West Trucking Company for many years in Kansas City, Mo. and Phoenix. After Harry’s death, she was a realtor in Phoenix until she retired in 2001, and moved to Morris to be near her daughter.
Private services were held in Joliet. She will be buried with her husband in Fairfield.
