---- — Josephine Leek, age 89, of Mt. Vernon, passed away 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Mt. Vernon Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

Josephine was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Cleveland, Tenn., a daughter of Perry Clifton and Clear Ivy (Humbard) Phillips. She married Clyde Leek on April 12, 1946; he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1999.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodlawn.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Janis Burns and husband Harold of Wayne City; grandson, Mike Burns and wife Charla of Woodlawn; granddaughter, Monica Marlow and husband Jason of Wayne City; brother, Dean Phillips of Jackson, Tenn; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Seth, Sarah, Chelsea, Jaylen, Brennan and Kobe; and also two great-great-grandchildren, Kyson and Holden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Duane; and two brothers, C.L. Phillips and Homer Phillips

Graveside Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with her grandson Mike Burns officiating.
