Vivian L. Howell Flota, 90, of Mt. Vernon, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born March 24, 1922, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Ivan and Beatrice (Allen) Robinson. She first married Claude R. Howell and he preceded her in death in 1945 in World War II. She later married Coy Flota who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Chambliss and husband Dwight of Mt. Vernon and Joyce Rogers and husband Don of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, D.H. Chambliss and wife Tammy of Mt. Vernon, Scott Rogers and wife Emily of Mt. Vernon, Brian Rogers and wife Kim of Mt. Vernon, Lisa Trout and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon and Wesley Rogers and wife Heather of Mt. Vernon; great-grandchildren, Josh and Jacob Trout of Mt. Vernon, Katie Rogers of Mt. Vernon, Chase Rogers of Mt. Vernon, Trace Rogers of Mt. Vernon, Amanda and Eric Borger of Mt. Vernon and Brandon and Kristen Tompkins of Mt. Vernon; great-great grandchildren, Lydia and Iziah Borger; sister, Carol Nails and husband Jerry Don of Bertrand, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one son Claude Lee “Sonny” Howell.
Vivian was employed at International Shoe until its closing.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn with the Rev. Ted Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
In honor of Vivian's wishes, no public visitation will be held.
