MT. VERNON - — Yvette Marie Vaughn, 51, of Mt. Vernon, died 6:03 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Wednesday, April 5, 1961, in Lafayette, Ind., the daughter of Ferris Cooper Orange, Jr. and Mary F. (Cozad) Orange. She married James "Sonny" Vaughn on July 24, 1994.

Our thoughts are whirling from the loss of Sonny's beloved wife, our daughter, sister and dear friend, Yvette Marie Orange Vaughn who showed unconditional love and compassion to everyone around her. Her words were always encouraging and her heart was always open to the needs of others. She was an advocate for local dialysis patients. Fifty-one years were not enough time of life spent with her. She loved the Lord and knew Jesus Christ as her personal savior. Though our hearts are broken, our spirits are lifted that we will all be with her again with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in life everlasting.

She is survived by her husband, James "Sonny" Vaughn of Mt. Vernon; parents, Ferris C. Orange, Jr. and Mary Lawrence of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Ferris Orange III and wife Jamie of Bluford, Shane Orange of Lafayette, Ind. and Brian Cox of Florida; sister, Angie Pogue and husband Mike of Indianapolis; close friend, Cheryl Spicer and husband David of Bluford; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other beloved family members and friends that she loved no less than any other.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Pastor Ferris Orange III officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Vaughn family and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
