John Franklin “Frank” Bruce, age 66, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at his residence in Manchester, Tenn., surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Manchester, Tenn., with Dr. Brenton Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Visitation was held Friday at Manchester Funeral Home and his body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Frank was born in Greenville, S.C., the son of the late John Isom Bruce and Dorothy “Ginny” Looper Bruce of Easley, S.C. Mr. Bruce served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. After his military service, he worked at Michelin Tire in Greenville, S.C., before going to Continental General Tire in Mt. Vernon, where he was a production manager.
He was formerly a Bridgestone manager and was the computer lab manager at Westwood Middle School. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester, where he drove the Vacation Bible School bus. He volunteered with Angels on Assignment while in Mt. Vernon. He enjoyed tutoring kids and reading, liked woodwork and doing yard work.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Katherine “Erin” West Bruce of Manchester; one son, John F. (Rachel) Bruce, Jr. of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Katherine R. “Katie” Bruce of Smyrna; one sister, Jackie Bruce (John) Orr of Easley, SC; and one grandchild, Lotus Greer.
