---- — Billy B. King, 75, of Mt. Vernon, died 4:47 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.

He was born April 26, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Carroll and Opal (Flota) King. He married Betty Long on June 30, 1957, in Mt. Vernon and she preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2011. He married Nadine (Mitchell) Bunting on Oct. 28, 2012, in Mt. Vernon.

Billy owned and operated Opal’s Restaurant & Smorgasbord in Mt. Vernon and he was a member of Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon. Please continue Billy’s lifelong commitment to feeding the hungry and needy of our community by donating to the Central Christian Church Food Pantry in his memory.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine King of Mt. Vernon; two sons, Billy Tom King and wife Mary of Mt. Vernon and Rodney King and wife Dana of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Ronda McDowell and husband Mike of Peoria, Ariz. and Melody Wilson and husband Kevin of Horse Creek, Calif.; sister, Shirley Pettit of Mt. Vernon; two nieces, Carlylle Sue Rankin and husband Gerald of Mt. Vernon and Christy Stoltman and husband Bob of Houston; 10 grandchildren, Niki Williams and husband Derek, Sam King, Kaylin King, Emily McDowell, Brandon McDowell, Brice Moll, Frankie Moll, Allan Moll, Lydia King and Hanna King; two great-grandchildren, Drake Williams and Deven Williams; stepson, Raymond Douglas and wife Rhonda; and two stepdaughters, Charlotte Tribe and husband Bill and Darlene Verheyen and husband Jon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.

Private family services will be held.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Central Christian Church Food Pantry and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
