MT. VERNON —
Demesia V. “Rosemary” Riley, 70, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:57 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
She was born Jan. 3, 1943, in San Antonia Del Monte, El Salvador, the daughter of Santos and Elena (Valencia) Garcia. She married Philip Riley on Sept. 9, 1973, in Pasadena, Calif., and he preceded her in death March 5, 2004.
Demesia had worked at the Holiday Inn in Mt. Vernon for several years. She was of the Catholic faith. Most of all Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Demesia is also survived by her children: Andrew Roy Riley and wife Brooke of Mt. Vernon and Suellen (Riley) Keen and husband Jarrell of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Philip A. Riley II, Sean L. Riley, Addison E. Mays, Conner M. Mays, Sawyer R. Mays, Sylvia Keen and Eva Keen, all of Mt. Vernon; father-in-law, Harry Riley; sisters-in-law, Gayla Ring and husband David and Carol Althoff and husband Donald, all of Effingham; three sisters, Eugenia Valencia, Arcadi Valencia and Juana Valencia, all of El Salvador; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Riley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother-in-law, Betty Riley; two brothers, Francisco and Julian Valencia; two sisters, Leonidas Valencia and Berta Valencia.
Services for Demesia V. “Rosemary” Riley will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at the L.R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell with the Rev. Blake Ring officiating. Burial will follow at the Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery near Kell.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the L.R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell with a rosary service at 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Zion Grove Cemetery and will be received at the L.R. Osborn & Son Funeral Home in Kell.
