Capt. Roy L. Loss, 70, of Mt. Vernon, died 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at his daughter’s home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Bonnie, the son of LeRoy and Lela Mae (Beard) Loss.
Loss served in the U.S. Army and retired in 2011, as captain after 38 years with the Jefferson County Sheriff Department. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club, the National Rifle Association, the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge 31, the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis and the Jefferson County Shrine Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Laura L. Lemons and husband Rodger of Mt. Vernon and Karen Robinson and husband Robert of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Matthew Lemons and wife Amber of Ewing, Adam Lemons and wife Teigan of Mt. Vernon, Rachel Lemons of Mt. Vernon, Jacob Lemons of Mt. Vernon, Robert Robinson, Jr. and wife Amanda of California, Codie Choisser and husband Seth of Benton and Aaron, Emily, Sarah, Jessica and Lexi Robinson, all of Mt. Vernon; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Paul Bailey; and an infant daughter, Sandra Loss.
In honor of his request, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
