Imogene Bigley

---- — Imogene Bigley, 85, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on June 14, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Care Center.

She was born on May 22, 1928, in Farrington Township, the daughter of Willie and Clara Erma (Carter) Ellis.

On July 3, 1946, in Mt. Vernon, she married Merle “Jack” Bigley and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2011. Mrs. Bigley was a homemaker and worked at the shoe factory. She later worked as a CNA at Good Samaritan Hospital until retirement.

She is survived by a son, Allen Bigley and wife Valerie of Ina; four grandchildren, Tonia Shadwick and husband Mike of Rossville, Ga., Drew Bigley and wife Ashley of Casa Grande, Ariz., Lacy Truitt and husband Kris of Greenville and Cortni Bigley and special friend Steven of Ellettsville, Ind.; three great-grand children, Jamie and Michelle Shadwick and Konan Truitt; and two brothers, Bobby Joe Ellis and wife Pat of Mt. Vernon and Clyde Ellis and wife Delores of Bluford.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Juanita Ellis, Lois Sinclair, Ira Mae (Ila) Bigley, Irene Spangler and Anna Belle Beckham; and three brothers, Lavern (Duck) Ellis, Verle Ellis and Franklin (Pete) Ellis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bigley will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with Marty Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harmony Cemetery and will be received at Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, IL 62830.
