---- — Linda Marie Mays, 62, of Opdyke, passed away 11 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

Linda was born June 18, 1951, a daughter of Adolph and Gerrie (Illig) Gonzalez. She married Roger Lee Mays on Aug. 18, 1979, in Mt. Vernon and he survives in Opdyke.

Linda’s hobbies included gardening, painting, stained glass and going to the wineries. Spending time with family on Lake J.A.M. was the best of times. Linda loved her family with all her heart, they were the priority in her life, always. She was a mother, wife and secretary for the Golf Cart Guys.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roger Mays of Opdyke; son, Josh and wife Amber of Opdyke; mother, Gerrie Donzalez of Ebensburg, Pa.; four brothers, Mike Gonzalez of Ebensburg, Tim Gonzalez of Bellwood, Pa., Ron Gonzalez and fiancé Tracy of Corrolltown, Pa. and Dave Gonzalez and wife Janet of Hillsborough, N.J.; sister, Kathy Marshall of Three Bridges, N.J.; several nieces and nephews, cousins and aunts; and also pets, Sabrina, Louie and Tookie.

Linda was preceded in death by her father.

As per her wishes, no public services will be held.

Memorials may be made in memory of Linda Mays to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter and will be accepted at the Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
