Norma Jones died Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born in Gorham on Dec. 6, 1925, to Jess and Bertha Taylor Bryan. She married Everett I. Jones on Oct. 5, 1946, in Nashville.
He proceeded her in death on Aug. 13, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Allen) Boesdorfer of Springfield and Sharon (Gary) Purdy of Maryville; granddaughters, Kelly Purdy (Robert) Cameron of Nashville, Pam Purdy (Gary) Kosinski, Lori Purdy (Steve) Bluemner, Lisa Purdy (Jay) Deterding all of Collinsville, Melissa Purdy (Craig) Bost of Maryville, Kim (Bob) Eaton of Edwardsville, Janet Seibert (Mike) Tisdale of Lincoln and Julie Seibert (Mike) Keebler of Sherman; two sisters, Elizabeth Montgomery of Coulterville and Alice Quinley of Springfield; and one brother, James Bryan (wife Debbie) of Glen Carbon.
She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Jones worked many years as a clerk at Krogers and Ross Drugs in Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon prior to becoming a member of Sherman United Methodist in Sherman. She was a past member of B.P.W. Club and American Legion Unit 141.
Remains will be cremated with private graveside services at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
