---- — Dorothy Kirk, age 92, of Dix, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
Dorothy was born April 6, 1922, in Unicoi, Tenn., the daughter of Henderson Woodby and Margaret (Hedrick). On June 22, 1944, in Tennessee, she married Ernest Kirk and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1974.
Mrs. Kirk attended Antioch Christian Church Sunday services at Rome Meadows for many years. She loved to play bingo and participate in various Sunshine Center activities.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Linda Cruser of Nashville, Vicky Constable of Channelview, Texas and Jackie Grafelman of East Peoria; two sisters, Mamie Kimbrell and Bessie Hill; grandchildren, C.J. Cruser of Nashville, Johnna and husband Craig Revermann of Albers, Kelly Cruser and wife Meagan of Nashville, Bobbie Jo Clark of East Peoria and Nick Grafelman and wife Karen of East Peoria; great-grandchildren, Baylee Revermann, Braden Revermann and Konly Cruser; and also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Kirk; son, Jimmie Ray Kirk; brother, Nathan Woodby; two sisters, Violet Campbell and Viola Sneyd; and a son-in-law, John Cruser.
Funeral services for Dorothy Kirk will be held 7 p.m. tonight at Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street in Mt. Vernon, with Mr. Jono Schnautz officiating. Burial will be held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Visitation will be tonight from 5 p.m. until service time at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
