Leona May Mooney, 83, of Centralia, formerly of Dix, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Monday, May 26, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.
She was born on Oct, 14, 1930, in Bridgeport, the daughter of Omer and Blanche (Gudgel) Keen. On Nov. 28, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, she married Loyd Mooney and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1997. She was a member of First Apostolic Church in Centralia.
She is survived by four sons, Bill Mooney and wife Gayla of Walnut Hill, Dwight Mooney and wife Mary of Dix, David Mooney of Dix and Charles Mooney and wife Bobbi of Kingwood, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Spencer and husband Bill of Newburgh, Ind., and Barbara Atchison and husband Brad of Dix; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn McPheeters of Mt Vernon.
In addition to her husband, Loyd Mooney, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Maurice Keen and Clifford Keen; and two sisters, Imogene Totten and Shelby Groeteka.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mooney will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix with the Rev. Jonathan Urshan officating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Tupelo Children's Mansion and will be accepted at the funeral home.
