Oram Gene Peterson, Sr., 65, of Woodlawn, died 1:23 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1948, in Jefferson County, the son of James H. and Ruby Jane (Pfolsgrof) Peterson. He married Meca Thomas on July 30, 1966, in St. Louis.
Oram worked for General Radiator then later for Vern Wood Press and was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church.
He is survived by wife, Meca Peterson of Woodlawn; mother, Ruby Pfolsgrof of Mt. Vernon; son, Pete Peterson and wife Sheila of Mt. Vernon; daughter, Shavonna Sanders and husband Jim of Woodlawn; four grandchildren, Erika Kehrer and husband Chad of Woodlawn, Aaron Peterson and special friend Brittni Blades of Woodlawn, Bryson Sanders of Woodlawn, Breanna Sanders of Woodlawn; three great-grandchildren, Jacie Kehrer of Woodlawn, Chloe James of Woodlawn and Lane Kehrer of Woodlawn; brother, Gary Peterson and wife Peggy of Chillicothe; and niece, Amy Peterson of Chillicothe.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with Mr. Tracy Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
