Clarence D. Buchanan Jr., 81, of Fairfield, died at 7:59 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in Wayne County, the son of Clarence D. Sr. and Edna (Sork) Buchanan. On April 10, 1955, he married Maxine (Kittle) Buchanan, who survives.
He was a retired farmer. He served as a director of Farmers Mutual Insurance and served on the Fairfield Grade School Board and the Boyleston School Board. He was a member of Arrington Prairie Bailey Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Buchanan and wife Gale of Fairfield; two daughters, Linda Miller and husband Donnie of Wayne City and Janice Jones and husband John of Fairfield; a brother, Frank Buchanan and wife Joyce of Fairfield; six grandchildren, Kimberly Miller, Tara (Jeff) Billington, Kristen Miller, Sara Buchanan, Julie Jones and Johnnie Jones; one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Billington; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City with the Rev. Steve Capps and the Rev. Harold Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.
