Maxine E. Adams, 89, of Mt. Vernon, died 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Friday, Oct. 10, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Louie and Tossie (Bowers) Leffler. She married Alvin E. Adams on April 6, 1946, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2002.
Maxine worked for the Mt. Vernon Shoe Factory for over forty years and later for the Dietary Department of Good Samaritan Hospital where she retired. She was a member of Southwest Christian Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by daughter, Jacqueline S. Isaac and husband Ron of Mt. Vernon; stepdaughter, Marilyn Sendelbach of Mt. Vernon; grandchild, Rob Isaac and wife Cindy; three great-grandchildren, Bria Sims and husband Matt, Kelsey Beal and husband Jeff and Megan Isaac; two great-great-grandchildren, Ava Beal and Allie Sims; five stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and five brothers.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn with the Rev. Benton Fitzjerrells officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
In honor of Maxine’s wishes, no visitation will be held.
