Keith McKay, 52, of Pleasanton, Calif., died on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1961, in Benton, the son of Alva and Dorothy (Witges) McKay.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; two sons, Alva and Colin McKay of Danville, Calif.; a daughter, Mollie McKay of Pleasanton; a stepdaughter, Lucy Proudfoot of Pleasanton; his father, Alva McKay of Scheller; his brother, Ron McKay and wife Donna of Ashley; his sister, Gail Allison and husband Jeff of North Augusta, S.C.; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Mr. McKay was a graduate of Waltonville High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and his master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
He was the owner of Japonesque Beauty Supplies. Keith was involved in many civic organizations in the Pleasanton area and enjoyed playing golf and being involved in his children’s sporting and social events.
A Celebration of Life service was held at Keith’s favorite golf course, Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton on Friday, May 30, 2014.
