Evelyn B. “Peggy” Lemay, 95, of Mt. Vernon, died 12:15 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Green Tree in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Monday, Nov. 12, 1917, in Franklin County, the daughter of Clyde and Euna (Malone) Ezell. She married Rev. Everett Lemay on Dec. 6, 1942, in Mt. Vernon, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2012.
Peggy was a homemaker and a loyal pastor’s wife who committed her life to serving with her husband. She was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her son, Carl Lemay of Tampa , Fla.; daughers, Linda Auxier of Carterville and Pat Enteman and husband Tom of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren, Krista Brock, Stefani Enteman, Phil Auxier, Holly Hendricks and Clint Auxier; 14 great-grandchildren, Ava, Jordan, Aaron, Randon, Tyler, Caleb, Leah, Anna, Ethan, Andrew, Gabriel, Lauren, Micah and Bella; brother, Carl Ezell and wife Bonnie of Sparta; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; son-in-law, Rick Auxier; and grandson, Chad Enteman.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Phil Auxier and the Rev. Wendell Garrison officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon.
