Mrs. Irene “Grams” Oberhofer of Ashley departed this life at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:35 p.m. She had attained the age of 88 years, 9 months and 29 days.
Mrs. Oberhofer was born on Aug. 2, 1924, at DuBois, the daughter of Nick and Mary H. (Nikrant) Boczek. She was united in marriage to Clemens Oberhofer on May 29, 1943, at DuBois; he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1990.
Irene was employed as a certified nurses aid at the Washington County Hospital in Nashville for 10 years until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville. Irene enjoyed playing pinochle and going to the casinos.
Left to mourn her passing is her two daughters, Mary Kay Fortag of Ashley and Barbara Rowell and husband Danny of Woodlaw; four grandchildren, Darrin and Carmen Fortag, Gene Rowell and his fiancée Lynsey Browne and Jason Rowell; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Fortag, Brittany Taft, Eli Rowell, Jacob Browne and Reese Rowell; other relatives and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Gary Sturgeon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville on Tuesday, at 10 a.m. with Father Andy Knopik officiating. Cremation will be performed after the services and interment of cremains will be held at a later date.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Ashley on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Ann Catholic School and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
