---- — Oleva Louise “Sally” Carter, 77, of Mt. Vernon, left this earth with her angels enroute to heaven at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Monday, Feb. 17, 1936, in Wolf Lake, the daughter of Ernest Leonard and Nora Louise (Kelso) Palmer.

Sally was a custodian at Ramada Inn in Mt. Vernon and was also a waitress at various restaurants in the Mt. Vernon area. In her work and through retirement, Sally enjoyed sharing with her many friends and acquaintances life’s experience.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Lemay and husband Steve of Mt. Vernon and Danara Carter of St. Charles, Mo.; son, Doug Carter and Donna Pierce of Bonnie; grandchildren, Chad Michael Carter and wife Jessica of Mt. Vernon, Ashley Kay Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., Bryan Carter of Benton, Brittany Carter of Benton, Amber and husband Josh Phillips and Ashley and husband Julian Velarde; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brooklyn, Bailey, Brodie, Madyson, Makenna and Liam; two brothers, Leonard Leon Palmer of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Cletus Walter Palmer of Wolf Lake; truly best friends, Cathy Wilson and Debbie Swarts; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo. Interment will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Mo.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
