---- — Jeanette A. Metje, 74, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Wednesday, Aug. 3, 1938, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of William H. “Cotton” and Wilma (McKitrick) Anderson. She married Roger W. Metje on Nov. 11, 1957, in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1995.

Jeanette worked as the head teller for Security Bank and Trust until retiring in 1986, and later worked as a teller for Boatman’s Bank. Most recently, she worked as the bookkeeper at Rend Lake Sporting Goods. Jeanette was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy O. Metje and special friend Paula Williams of Mt. Vernon and Roger Alan Metje and wife Deanna of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren, Kristen Rollie and husband Lucas of Woodlawn, Jarred Metje and wife Jessica of Woodlawn, Michaela Taylor and husband Richard of St. Louis, Quentin Metje of Mt. Vernon, Jacob Goodwin of Mt. Vernon, Josh Goodwin of Mt. Vernon and Jessie Goodwin of Mt. Vernon; two great-grandchildren, Bowen and Baylor Rollie of Woodlawn; brother, Jim Anderson and wife Wilma of Mt. Vernon; sister, Linda Allison and husband Duane of Nason; son-in-law, Michael Burwell of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Lynn Burwell; and one sister, Norma Boone.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn with Mr. Jerry Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
