Mary Bandy

Mary Ruth Bandy, 87, of Texico, passed away 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Mary’s Good Samar-itan Hospital in Centralia.

She was born in Raccoon Township, Marion County, on Jan. 17, 1926, the daughter of Bertha (Wilson) and Charles Easley. She married William Austin Bandy May 10, 1946, in Paducah, Ky., and he preceded her in death May 2003.

Mary is survived by a son, William “Bill” Bandy and wife Tina of Texico; one daughter, Patricia Elaine Wilson Walker of Middleburg, Fla.; one granddaughter, Tabitha Lane and significant other, Mark Povolish of Nashville, two grandsons, Jeffrey S. Wilson and wife Tami of Orange Park, Fla. and Beau Bandy of Salem; two great-grandsons, J.D. and Tim Wilson of Orange Park, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Joey and Korey; close nephew, Don Woker and wife Donna of Columbus, Ohio; two close great-nieces, Jennifer (Boettcher) Means and Cathy (Boettcher) Pellum; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Bandy and wife Darlene and Wayne Beal and wife Mary; sister-in-law, Wilma Mayo; two nieces; and 10 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Doris Allen “Chub” Easley and wife Evelyn; sister, Flossie Mae “Pat” Woker and husband Clarence; close niece, Janet Ruth Boettcher; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and one nephew.

Mrs. Bandy was a school teacher for over 35 years, teaching in Brubaker and Romine one room schools in Marion County and Forest Hill in Jefferson County. She also taught at the Opdyke Grade School and she retired from Field Grade School in Texico where she taught 26 years. She was a member of the Marion County Retired Teachers and the Salem Hospital Auxiliary. Mary graduated from Kell High School and Lebanon College in Lebanon. She was a member of the Panther Fork Missionary Baptist Church of Texico.

Mary will be sorely missed by her family and numerous friends for her gift of always carrying on an active conversaion.
