---- — Mary Jean Rodgers, 62, of Marion, passed away 11:07 a.m. April 23, 2013. She was at home peacefully surrounded by family.
The memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Christian Life Center.12212 Cedar Grove Rd, Marion, with Pastor Kevin Holliday officiating.
Mary was born 6:10 a.m. on Feb. 9, 1951, in Mt. Vernon. She went to Mt. Vernon Township High school and continued on to become a C.N.A. in Chicago Mary was married to Mario Magdaleno Hernandez, who preceded her in death. Mary worked as a physician’s assistant for numerous years then moved on to teleservices at Annex in Chicago. She enjoyed family time, crocheting, music and game nights. She also enjoyed bingo nights and interacting with her friends.
Mary is survived by her sister, Patricia “Stone” Workman, Mt. Vernon; Linda Holland, Florida; brother-Richard “Dickey” Stone, Mt. Vernon; daughter, Tajuana Hernandez Bates, Chicago; daughter, Esperanza Rodgers, Marion; daughter, Nita “Ramonita” Newport, St. Petersburg Beach, Fla; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; ad numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Marchetta “Delores” “Stewart” Stone; father, Waverly T. Rodgers; brother, Cecil Holland; brother, Michael Stone; and niece,Tiffany Nicole Workman
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois, INC or the American Cancer Society.
