---- — Cort Edward Harrison, 32, of Mt. Vernon, died 9:42 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at his home in Mt. Vernon.
He was born Sunday, July 26, 1981, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Larry and Jeanie (Hawkins) Harrison.
Cort worked as the back-up cook for Cracker Barrel in Mt. Vernon where he was voted “Cook of the Year” by the Mt. Vernon Register-News. He loved drag racing and was an avid NFL football fan. His parents, sisters and nephews were the loves of his life.
He is survived by his parents, Larry and Jeanie Harrison of Mt. Vernon; grandmother, Gretta Harrison of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Shana Poole and husband Shawn of Opdyke and Kara Harrison of Mt. Vernon; and three nephews, Kaleb and Eddie Poole and Evan Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Edward Dwight Harrison; grandparents, Clifford and Lois Hawkins; and aunt, Judy Wagner.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Bud Storey officiating. Interment will be at Wolf Prairie Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
