---- — Albert W. A. Hampton, 68, of Bonnie, died 2:08 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his home in Bonnie.
He was born Friday, May 18, 1945, in Nashville, the son of Eugene Marshall Hampton and Lydia M. (Pruehsner) Hampton. He married Brenda L. Beckham on Oct. 17, 1969, in Jefferson County.
Albert served in the U.S. Army from June 5, 1962, to June 4, 1968, and later worked at Continental Tire Company in Mt. Vernon until retiring. He was a member, an Elder and Sunday school teacher at Elk Prairie Christian Church. He loved singing, playing guitar, hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by wife, Brenda L. Hampton of Bonnie; two sons, Casey Hampton and husband Jeffry Stanton of Chicago and Jonathan Hampton and wife Wendy of Bonnie; two daughters, Tonya Blackwell and husband Skylynn of Mt. Vernon and Amanda Bigley and husband Ryan of Bonnie; two grandsons, Colton Blackwell of Mt. Vernon and Kayin Hampton of Bonnie; brother, Wesley Hampton of Nashville; three sisters, Betty Turner of Nashville, Dinah Barnhart of Nashville and Dolly McFeron and husband Thomas of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and David Hampton.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Mr. Randy Sells and Mr. Bill Degenhardt officiating. Interment will be at South Hickory Hill Cemtery in McClellan Township, Jefferson County. Members of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct full military honors at the cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the service time 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
