Ron Calvin Burke, 60, of McLeansboro, passed away 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 3, 1953, in Carbondale, the son of William Douglas Burke and Carlene Jeannette (Miles) Burke. He married Sandra Marie (Wuebbles) Burke on June 10, 1978, in Piopolis.
He was a bus driver for Hamilton County Schools and a member of St. Clements Catholic Church. He worked in the coal mine, construction and was self-employed. He was a member of Polk Lodge 137 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies Consistory in Belleville and Ainad Temple - East St. Louis Shriners. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Burke of McLeansboro; son, Jason Burke of McLeansboro; daughter, Alison Burke of McLeansboro; three brothers, Lon Burke and wife Barbara of Tecumseh, Kan., Don Burke and wife Ann of McLeansboro and Robert “Bob” Burke of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willy Burke.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro with Father Slawomir Ptak officiating. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis. Military honors will be by American Legion Post 106, McLeansboro.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
